Who we are
EDT is a UK wide educational charity, delivering and accrediting 50,000+ experiences through the Industrial Cadets Awards each year. By connecting employers with young people and educators, EDT provides inspiring opportunities for young people aged 9 to 21 to explore the exciting world of STEM, and the variety of rewarding future careers available.
EDT developed Industrial Cadets with support from industry and education to provide a benchmark accreditation, mapping activities against a skills and competency framework. Inspired by its Patron, His Majesty King Charles III, the scheme aims to increase diversity and inspire young people through industry-based experiences to become part of the workforce of the future.
What we do
EDT delivers a range of programmes and tailored activities for companies supporting young people at every key decision-making point throughout their educational journey.
Industrial Cadets is a widely recognised, accredited awards scheme providing industry-based experiences on pathways through education to employment.
Together, with our partners we collaborate and unite, inspiring young people to discover the exciting world of STEM, creating a funnel of diverse early talent interested in entering the STEM industries, answering the needs of key growth areas.
What we believe
Building work-readiness skills in young people is more important than ever, to prepare the next generation for the world of work. Our goal is to excite and educate underrepresented groups, enabling social mobility to create a broader, more diverse and inclusive talent pool for the STEM industries.
Our Mission
To connect young people with industry and role models, develop their work-readiness and skills, and inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and problem-solvers.
Our Vision
A society where all young people — no matter their background — can access inspiring STEM opportunities, build confidence, and reach their potential.
Our Patron
Industrial Cadets is proud to be patroned by His Majesty King Charles III. Since its launch in 2010, His Majesty has championed Industrial Cadets as a nationally recognised standard for work-readiness, helping young people gain confidence and access to industry.
