DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

Key Accountabilities:

• Liaise with multiple departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth operation of the Clyde Valley sites.

• Deliver on tasks and expectations set by specific managers across site.

• Implement, create, or edit SOPRAs, working procedures, and risk assessments.

• Participate in specific projects and assignments aimed at continuous improvement on site.

• Gain comprehensive understanding of the operations, contracts, maintenance, finance, procurement, and compliance functions at Clyde Valley Sites.

• Develop strong understanding of the management principles and practices applied within a waste-to-energy (WTE) facility

Activities and Responsibilities:

• Conduct site tours and inspections to gain firsthand understanding of waste processing.

• Assist the Operations team in monitoring and optimizing plant performance.

• Participate in the development and implementation of maintenance strategies to ensure the reliability of plant equipment.

• Collaborate with the Administrative team to source and manage materials and equipment for the sites.

• Contribute to the preparation of financial reports and analysis to improve financial decision-making.

• Support the Contracts team in managing contractual obligations and resolving any potential disputes.

• Liaise with external stakeholders, such as regulatory bodies and waste collection companies, to ensure compliance with environmental and contractual requirements.

• Prepare presentations and reports to communicate findings and recommendations to management.

• Implement, create, or edit SOPRAs, working procedures, and risk assessments as needed.

• Participate in specific projects and assignments aimed at continuous improvement on site.

• Project planning / monitoring / reporting for all Projects that they are involved with.

The student will be encouraged to learn building energy modelling techniques, 3D drawing techniques, including learning to use specialist software such as Revit, AutoCAD, MATLAB and IES Virtual Environment, and would help engineers out by setting up standard ways of working and developing tools within these software programmes, working closely with project engineers to develop high quality designs.

· This might involve programming within these software programmes to develop standard tools for engineers to use in the office.

· We would encourage the successful student to get involved in the modelling of buildings using software programmes that allow us to analyse how abuilding will react to the sun, the weather around them and the users within them to ensure that they are energy efficient and allow the users to remain comfortable all year round.

· We would aim to give the student the opportunity to get involved in the design of some of the buildings that we are working on, to give real experience of the Construction industry. The student would also have the opportunity to visit construction sites and understand how the work that they have been doing translates into the finished product.

· Lastly, the student would be given the opportunity to research specific subjects so that we can use this knowledge to help all the engineers work efficiently and accurately.

MAIN PLACEMENT PURPOSE:

 The Baylab manager is looking for an assistant to help with all aspects of running the lab.  Depending on the candidate this could include:

-       Helping to run workshops for up to 32 school students

-       Help to design and test new workshops, and improve existing workshops

-       Respond to enquiries from schools and manage calendar bookings

-       Maintain a database of schools who have attended workshops

-       Collate feedback forms, input onto the database and analyse results

-       Designing, testing and improving workshops.  

-       Create presentations on new workshops

-       Visit Baylabs in other countries to collect ideas for new workshops or events

-       Help to organise summer schools and special events

-       Maintain inventory of lab equipment

This will be achieved working alongside other functions in the company and the network of third party suppliers, contract development organisations, and consultants who work with and on behalf of the company. You will work on an existing portfolio of projects at different stages in the product development lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

-       Prototyping and experimentation of new technology and product concepts

-       Integration of mechanical, electronic and software components for product development

-       Set up of experimental rigs

-       Performance verification testing

-       PCB design, assembly, testing and debugging

-       Data collection and analysis

-       Maintenance of records

-       Written technical reports

The successful applicant will have a passion and excellent grades in Electronics and Physical Sciences. He/she will be a self-starter and have an inquisitive and probing nature, with a keen interest in product design and development. This is a hands-on role that requires analytical and practical problem-solving skills with critical attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.

Other desirable abilities and skills:

-       Experience with prototyping (mechanical /electrical) and associated tools e.g. 3D printing / laser cutter

-       Experience with lab equipment e.g. power supplies, multi-meters, oscilloscopes

-       Excellent written communication and presentation skills
