National Women in Science & Engineering Day: Our CEO Announced as a Winner at WISE Awards

We are pleased to share that our CEO, Julie Feest, has won a Women into Science and Engineering (WISE) Award in the Outreach and Engagement category.

Julie is passionate about supporting young people to excel in their STEM careers and her role within EDT involves building impactful relationships across our network of partners, educators and students to ensure that young people across the UK have equal access to exciting and engaging STEM experiences.

WISE is an initiative intended to highlight the career opportunities for girls and women in science and engineering professions. This initiative introduced National Women in Science and Engineering Day (17th January), which is an annual event dedicated to honouring the achievements of women and allies in STEM.

As an initiative, their mission is to:

  • Inspire every girl to envision a future in STEM
  • Empower all women to enter, remain and progress in their STEM careers
  • Lead their network of organisations to facilitate collaboration and amplify best practice
  • Share insight and knowledge to enable their partners to harness the benefits of diverse talent
  • Create a sense of belonging for everyone in STEM

Julie is delighted and honoured to be recognised for the Outreach and Engagement WISE Award. She said, “This is never just an award for myself, but recognition and celebration of all the people I work with, including the EDT Board, our King's Ambassadors for Industrial Cadets and all of our partners and educators who help us to serve our young people.”

There was also double the celebration as our Chair of the Board, Elena Rodriguez-Falcon was recognised after winning The Princess Royal's WISE Lifetime Achievement Award.

Elena is a globally recognised expert and leader in engineering education, specifically in inclusive and international learning and teaching. She was celebrated for her dedication to making engineering more accessible for underrepresented groups and the way she has challenged and reshaped traditional concepts of teaching. Elena has made a truly lasting impact on the way we create our engineers of the future.
