Henkel launches Forscherwelt programme across the UK Supported by EDT
Henkel, the company behind well-known brands such as Loctite® and Schwarzkopf®, is pleased to announce the launch of its Forscherwelt programme in schools around the United Kingdom. This international education initiative aims to ignite and nurture enthusiasm for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among young learners.
The rollout of Forscherwelt in the UK is being carried out in collaboration with EDT, a leading educational charity which connects young people with industry through its Industrial Cadets Awards - a pathway of programmes that empower students to develop skills and explore exciting futures in STEM.
Forscherwelt, which translates to Researchers' World, is designed for children aged 8 to 10, encouraging them to step into the role of real researchers. The programme emphasizes the application of scientific methods, including critical testing, data analysis, interpretation, and creativity. By engaging in hands-on experiments related to Henkel's core areas – such as adhesives, washing and cleaning, cosmetics, and sustainability– students gain a comprehensive understanding of science's role in everyday life.
The programme will be introduced in 18 schools across the UK in the coming months, followed by Ireland in the second phase of the rollout plan. By fostering early interest in STEM subjects, Henkel aims to contribute to the development of future scientists and innovators.
Dr. Ute Krupp, Global Head of Forscherwelt, expressed her enthusiasm: “Forscherwelt has been an integral part of the Henkel global brand for many years now, and it is wonderful to see this fantastic programme being rolled out in one of our main markets in the United Kingdom. Forscherwelt aims to bridge the gap in STEM education by making it accessible to all children. This initiative will play a key role in sparking a passion for science in young minds, inspiring curiosity and nurturing a spirit of discovery.
The rollout of Forscherwelt in the UK is being done in partnership with EDT, an educational charity on a mission to connect young people and industry with inspiring STEM futures.
Also speaking about the rollout of Forscherwelt in the UK, Tracy Mitchley, Head of Corporate Communications for Henkel in UK, Ireland and Nordic countries, said: “Research and innovation are at the heart of our company. By implementing Forscherwelt and giving children the opportunity to develop these STEM skills early on, we are investing in the next generation of scientific leaders.”
Julie Feest, CEO at EDT explained “We’re delighted to work in partnership with Henkel to inspire and engage young people across the UK, through the delivery of Forscherwelt. The programme of hands-on activities introduces children to the exciting world of STEM, supports the development of new skills and ignites a passion and curiosity in STEM subjects which can last a lifetime.”
